Buxton Books is excited to host National Geographic photographer Vincent J. Musi for an in-store signing on Second Sunday! Musi will be featuring his iconic pet portrait collection, The Year of the Dogs!
ABOUT THE BOOK:
As a National Geographic photographer, taking pictures of lions, tigers, and bears was a regular day's work for Vincent Musi, but in 2017 he gave himself a new challenge: dogs. Using the same lighting and photographic techniques he uses for his National Geographic photography, Musi spent a year shooting portraits of dogs. From a farting bulldog to a Labrador that likes opera, he chronicled the character and personality of everyday dogs. The result was a wildly successful Instagram account. The Year of the Dogs features over 100 dogs from this series of exquisite photos with close-ups, profiles, and full body shots along with a narrative about each dog. Presented in an elegant package that properly showcases the vitality of Musi's photos, The Year of the Dogs is the go-to gift book for dog lovers.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Vincent J. Musi is one of the most unlikely people to be photographing animals for National Geographic. One day, a famous prairie dog helped Musi discover his inner Doctor Dolittle. Since then he’s wanted to become the Annie Leibovitz of animal photographers. He’s been bitten, chased, charged, clawed, scratched, pooped on and peed on. His TEDx talk is a funny look at how he got his start and an introduction to some really famous animals. He created The Unleashed Studio to make beautiful fine-art photographs of cherished pets, using the same lighting and photographic techniques that he uses for National Geographic.
This is a free in-person event!
