Buxton Books is proud to be the bookseller for the Book Launch of Slaughter of the Innocents, the latest poetry collection from local poet Eugene Platt. This event will take place at 5:00 pm at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church on Sunday, December 15. This is a free event. No RSVPs required.

About Eugene Platt:

Eugene Platt was born in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1939. After serving in the Army, he graduated from the University of South Carolina and earned a Diploma in Anglo-Irish Literature at Trinity College Dublin. His poems have appeared in many literary publications and some have been choreographed. He has given over 100 public readings of his work and was invited to read in the inaugural Dublin Arts Festival in 1970. He was the first Poet Laureate of the Town of James Island and was Poet-in-Residence for public radio station WSCI. He served as an elected member of the James Island Public Service District Commission 1993-2020. He was the Green Party nominee for the U.S. Congress in a 2013 special election. He lives in Charleston with his main muses: Montreal-born wife Judith, corgi Bess, and cats Finnegan and Maeve.
