About Eugene Platt:
A Charleston, SC native, Eugene Platt has given over 100 public readings of his work across the nation. After graduating from St. Andrew’s Parish High School, Eugene served three years in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and chaplain’s assistant. He earned a B.A. at the University of South Carolina and did graduate study at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. He served as an elected member of the James Island Public Service District Commission from 1993-2020. Some of his poems have been choreographed and in 2002 he was appointed the first Poet Laureate of the Town of James Island.
