"Scavenger: A Mystery" Official Charleston Launch

Buxton Books is excited to partner with author Christopher Chambers for a virtual event on his brand new mystery novel SCAVENGER on Monday, October 26 at 7:30 PM. Chambers will be in conversation with crime-writing stalwart Gary Phillips.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Christopher Chambers is a professor of media studies, as well as a novelist published through Random House, MacMillan and Three Rooms Press. His novels include A Prayer for Deliverance and Sympathy for the Devil, the graphic anthology (with Gary Phillips) The Darker Mask, and PEN/Malamud-nominated story, “Leviathan.” His short stories have been included in the Anthony award-winning anthology The Obama Inheritance, The Faking of the President and Black Pulp 2. Professor Chambers is a regular commentator/contributor on media and culture issues on SiriusXM Radio, ABC News, and HuffPost. He resides in Washington, D.C. with his family and German Shepherd, Max.

ABOUT THE IN CONVERSATION PARTNER
Gary Phillips is the son of a mechanic and a librarian. He was weaned on too many comic books, Dashiell Hammett stories, reruns of the original Twilight Zone, and experiences ranging from community organizer to delivering dog cages. His 1950s set graphic novel the Be-Bop Barbarians riffs on race relations, jazz, police brutality and the Red Scare. His novel Violent Spring was the first such mystery set in the aftermath of the 1992 civil unrest, and he edited the Anthony award-winning anthology, The Obama Inheritance: Fifteen Stories of Conspiracy Noir.
